About The Position

WHAT YOU'LL DO Set up and operates surface grinding machines with horizontal or vertical spindle and reciprocating or rotating table to grind flat or contoured surfaces of metal workpieces, such as tool, die, and machine parts, usually for limited runs, analyzing specifications and selecting tooling according to knowledge of surface grinding procedures. Read and interpret drawing and blueprints. Determine product specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, and number of parts to be ground. Collect and assemble speeds, feed rates, holding fixtures, and grinding wheels to be used. Confirm ground workpiece has the correct specifications. Utilize micrometers, calipers, and preset gauges. Set up automatic work feeding device. Use proper wheel guards on all grinding machines. Observe machine during operation. Shall adhere to all safety, health and environmental procedures, policies and practices, such as utilizing personal protective equipment and proper attire in keeping with safety standards.
