Requirements

  • A high School diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a Grind Machinist
  • A high degree of comfort setting-up and troubleshooting mechanical issues with CNC Machines.
  • Proficiency using various measuring equipment, including but not limited to, Micrometers, Calipers, and Dial Bore Gauges.
  • Competency in reading and interpreting blueprints and written work instructions.
  • Ability to select grinding wheels, properly dress the wheel and run production parts according to drawing requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to hold tight tolerances, typically .001 +/- .0005, associated with the machining of precision parts (GD&T).
  • In accordance with strict Federal Aviation Administration (F.A.A.) regulations regarding Safety Sensitive Work (S.S.W.), employee enrollment & participation in the company's "F.A.A. Drug & Alcohol Program" is a requirement for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Work from blueprints, operation sheets and/or verbal instructions.
  • Grind a wide variety of complex parts having either intricate recessing, interim grooving, numerous steps, tapers, unusual contours, to extremely close tolerances and/or a high degree of finish on two or more of the following type grinders: cylindrical, internal, or surface.
  • Perform your own set-ups, including chucking and aligning of parts having irregular shapes, selecting proper wheels, speeds, feeds, and operating sequence.
  • Dress wheels for form, taper, steps, straight and unusual forms.
  • Perform inspection of all work performed using sine bars, air gages, diatest, V-blocks, profilometers angle plates, and electronic gauging equipment. Detecting unusual conditions, defective materials, and deviate parts; and recognizing errors in blueprints and operation sheets.
  • Participate in the planning of work within the Cell and help solve problems occurring within the Cell.
