About The Position

Micro Paradox is seeking a Greenhouse Lead to join our team! The Greenhouse Lead is responsible for coordinating day-to-day operations within the inventory greenhouse and shadehouse, under the direction of the Greenhouse Manager. This role ensures plants are properly organized, maintained, and prepared for sale or shipment. The Greenhouse Lead acts as the operational quarterback of the inventory greenhouse, coordinating labor, maintaining organization of plant material, and ensuring plants are ready when sales or shipping needs them. This is a hands-on role that requires strong organization, attention to plant quality, and the ability to coordinate greenhouse labor effectively. About Us Micro Paradox is a tissue culture and micropropagation laboratory that provides clean nursery stock and young plants to commercial nurseries in the United States and abroad. Plants produced by Micro Paradox are disease-free, uniform, and true-to-type. We also provide related tissue culture services such as germplasm maintenance, virus eradication, embryo rescue, and other custom projects.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Possess a valid CA driver license and clean driving record
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English; fluency in Spanish a plus
  • Familiar with computers, and able to perform data entry and use GSuite programs
  • Experience troubleshooting mechanical issues (forklift certified a plus)
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Understand basic mathematical concepts including ratios and measurements
  • Able to perform repetitive hands-on work for extended periods of time
  • Able to follow training and instructions
  • Able to carry out routine work with minimal supervision
  • Able to work with hands, stand, walk, sit, stoop, and bend for extended hours
  • Able to climb on ladders as needed
  • Able to lift 30 lbs

Responsibilities

  • Maintain clear organization of plants within the inventory greenhouse and shadehouse
  • Group plants by variety, size, and readiness
  • Ensure plant material is clearly labeled and easy to locate
  • Coordinate entry of plants into the inventory greenhouse and shadehouse
  • Ensure plants are placed appropriately within greenhouse space
  • Maintain efficient greenhouse layout as inventory changes
  • Coordinate greenhouse labor performing tasks such as: sorting plants spacing plants upsizing containers grooming plants staging plants for shipment
  • Maintain awareness of plant quantities and locations
  • Identify plants ready for sale or shipment
  • Assist with inventory checks
  • Coordinate staging of plants for orders
  • Work with shipping staff to prepare plants for shipment
  • Ensure plants are accessible and ready for fulfillment
  • Assist with loading shipments
  • Drive company vehicles to deliver plants throughout California and neighboring states as needed
  • Related duties as assigned
