About The Position

Graphic Design Associate, Part-Time Summary Reports to: Director of Digital Graphics Employment Status: Part-time, Non-Exempt Position Overview: The Graphic Design Associate is responsible for supporting the Nashville Symphony’s Communications team, with a focus on storytelling through graphic design and digital media. The Communications team creates compelling content in written and visual formats to engage our patrons and build lifelong relationships with them, driving revenue to achieve long-term financial growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Graphic Design or a related field; OR equivalent work experience.
  • At least one year of experience in graphic design, preferably working for a nonprofit or performing arts organization.
  • At least one year of professional experience with graphic design and illustration.
  • Must provide a strong work portfolio showcasing marketing & communications collateral.
  • An understanding of graphic design practices and principles is essential.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
  • Experience with editing photography is essential.
  • Must demonstrate initiative, precise attention to detail, strong problem resolution, and organizational skills.
  • Must exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to perform as part of a team and work effectively under deadlines.
  • Must be able to work at a computer and sit for extended stretches of time.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic understanding of prepress/preflight/print production processes is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with classical repertoire and/or the entertainment business is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Digital Graphics with the design and production of marketing, communications, fundraising, and education materials, including direct-mail pieces, flyers, brochures, annual report, print advertisements, and outdoor building signage. All materials uphold Nashville Symphony brand standards.
  • Adapt graphics for use in emails, online ads, websites, social and other digital media.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Digital Graphics in the creation of advertising designs, branding for individual concerts, and institutional branding.
