About The Position

Organization: SHSO-Sutter Health System Office-Bay Position Overview: Duties for this team include pre-award administration of grants and oversight of grant-related compliance regulations. The major functions are pre-award grants management and administration for federal and private foundations for basic sciences and clinical research. This position will be assigned complex and challenging grant submissions including program project grants, center grants, and large grants with a varying number of subcontracts. Responsibilities include coordination of grant submissions (for all types of applications varying in volume and sponsor requirements), setting timelines, providing guidance on required elements, development of budgets for grant proposals, award analysis, preparation of subcontract agreements (includes reviewing and ensuring all documents are compliant with federal regulations), maintenance of file management systems, conflict of interest management, subrecipient monitoring, as well as assurance of agency and campus policy compliance. The successful candidate should be highly motivated, detail-oriented, organized, and able to work well independently as well as within a team. This person should be flexible and poised with the ability to thrive in a deadline-driven and challenging environment. In addition, this person should have extensive prior experience in pre-award grant administration (including federal grants, policies, and guidelines) and will be expected to function independently and assist with new hire training and support regarding pre-award issues. While the job is mostly Monday-Friday, given the cyclical nature of grant proposal submissions, overtime and weekends may be required. This is a work from home opportunity with occasional onsite requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's
  • 5 years recent relevant experience
  • Advanced analytical skills and generalized knowledge of policies and procedures in more than one functional area or substantive knowledge in a specialized field.
  • Knowledge of federal government circulars Office of Management and Budget (OMB A-110, A-122 and A-133) state and local regulations and standard contract clauses.
  • Skills in communication (both written and oral) in the English language, have ability to articulate needs and questions clearly, and have organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented, work quickly and accurately, and be able to multi-task.
  • Ability to work with competing deadlines and numerous personalities with diplomacy and tact.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision and exercise good judgment according to the goals of the unit.
  • Demonstrated skills in spreadsheet, word processing, and accounting applications (MS Office, Word, Excel).
  • Demonstrated ability with financial forecasting.
  • Knowledge of grants management practices.
  • Proficient knowledge of accounting practices.
  • Must possess follow-up and follow-through and investigative skills.
  • Ability to participate effectively as a member of a clinical research team.
