About The Position

Financial Grants Manager oversees the financial administration of more than 30 NCJFCJ federal, state, and private grants and cooperative agreements to ensure compliance with federal and governing regulations and NCJFCJ fiscal policies and procedures; Creates and monitors budgets and fiscal resources and oversees post-award management, including budget adjustments, expenditure analysis, sub-recipient monitoring, financial reporting, communication with federal and state government officials, and project closeouts; and supervises the Grants Analysts; manages the grant funding available to reporting program or department; serves as a liaison between program or department and Finance regarding all aspects of grant funding. Requirements

  • Graduate degree from an accredited university or institute of higher learning in a relevant field; CPA and CMA preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years related experience, or
  • Equivalent combination of training, education, and experience in a relevant field
  • Experience in managing and administering federal grant funded programs and/or working with grant funders
  • Ability to analyze, review, and interpret data
  • Ability to prepare future projections and report all aspects of grant-funded budgets
  • Ability to coordinate between programs or departments and provide all budget-related spending and expenditures and related reports
  • Knowledgeable about the management and workings of grants, including the complexity and understanding of deliverables
  • Ability and experience to become an integral member of the Finance Department and the grant creation team
  • Knowledge of administrative, clerical, and office procedures and systems
  • Must possess strong computer skills and proficiency utilizing various software programs such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.), accounting software (MIP preferred), database management programs
  • Ability to manage files and maintain records
  • Ability to learn terminology and follow policies and procedures related to grant compliance
  • Strong, effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to plan and carry work through to completion, with limited supervision, with accuracy and with strong emphasis on attention to detail
  • Able to manage multiple tasks/projects utilizing time management and organization skills
  • Knowledge of proper telephone and email practices and etiquette

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with grant-related compliance issues preferred
  • Experience in non-profit or grant-funded environment preferred
  • Supervisory experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that NCJFCJ meets state and federal grant requirements; specifically, the compliance requirements of NCJFCJ’s federal award expenditures
  • Assist and inform senior executives and program/department managers of financial matters affecting the organization
  • Generate regular reports as needed to monitor and track grant expenditures
  • Utilize technology to optimize all reporting and analytical functions
  • Inform internal planning regarding NCJFCJ's proposed program expansion, to ensure alignment of program, outreach, and training plans with financial projections
  • Provide fiscal leadership with respect to all grant-related accounting functions
  • Supervise Grants Analyst staff
  • Responsible for all liaison work and coordination between programs or departments
  • Create budgets in collaboration with program or department management and the Finance Director
  • Closely collaborate with program or department managers to develop and incorporate budgets into grants
  • Relate and communicate the needs of Finance and internal program or departmental accounting functions to others within program or department
  • Attend meetings as needed
  • Attend ongoing training seminars for program, department, and Finance
  • Other duties as assigned
