This Grants Project Specialist coordinates several grants for the agency. The agency administers highway safety funds for the state on behalf of the governor. Typical grants that the position administers range from 20-30 agencies (police departments, sheriff's, non-profits, other governmental agencies) covering anywhere from 20-50 grants across multiple program areas and covering upwards of a few million dollars. This position ensures that funding is being spent appropriately (only on contracted items) and in a timely fashion (within the time parameters set in the contract). Done through frequent monitoring, telephonically or in person, of subgrantees and reviewing complex financial statements including timesheets and bid sheets for equipment. In addition to administering individual highway safety grants, this position plays an integral role in managing other projects and efforts on behalf of the agency as assigned by the Grant Administrator and/or agency Director.
