About The Position

The Grants & Communications Coordinator supports the agency’s fundraising and external communications efforts by leading grant writing and management activities and assisting with mission-aligned communications. This role works collaboratively with internal teams and, as appropriate, the Board of Directors’ Communications Committee to strengthen funding partnerships, steward institutional donors, and promote the agency’s brand in a consistent and meaningful way.

Requirements

  • The ideal candidate would have a bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, nonprofit management or a related field
  • Minimum two years of experience with grant writing and nonprofit fundraising strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with success in writing persuasive grant proposals and experience with donor communications and impact reports
  • Strong research skills to identify funding opportunities and alignment with potential grantors.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both in writing and verbally, with the ability to tailor messages to diverse audiences
  • Ability to leverage data and analytics to inform donor communications and strategy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CRM software, and social media management tools.
  • Highly organized, with strong project management
  • Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time throughout the day.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Must be able to bend and stoop.
  • Must be able to walk extended periods throughout the day monitoring.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close, distance, color, peripheral depth and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full grant lifecycle, including researching, preparing, submitting, and managing grant proposals and reports to foundation, corporate, and other institutional funders using current grant portals and tools.
  • Conduct ongoing prospect research to identify funding opportunities aligned with the agency’s mission and strategic priorities.
  • Collaborate with program, finance, and leadership staff to gather data, outcomes, and budgets needed for grant proposals and funder reports.
  • Ensure full compliance with grant requirements, deadlines, and reporting regulations, submitting accurate and timely reports.
  • Maintain organized, up-to-date grant records and tracking systems, including electronic files, calendars, and reporting schedules.
  • Support stewardship and follow-up for institutional funders by preparing written updates, impact summaries, and reports in collaboration with the Director of Communications.
  • Assist in coordinating meetings, site visits, and tours for foundation and corporate partners to strengthen relationships and showcase program impact.
  • Track grant-related data and metrics to support donor engagement, stewardship, and internal reporting.
  • Support external communications efforts that increase agency visibility and reinforce a consistent, mission-aligned brand.
  • Contribute written content for institutional communications, including board reports, funder communications, newsletters, website updates, and selected external materials.
  • Assist with managing and updating the agency’s social media and digital platforms to support storytelling, fundraising, and community engagement.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Communications on developing promotional and fundraising materials, as assigned.
  • Assist with fundraising initiatives, campaigns, and development events as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams and community partners to support resource development and organizational goals.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned in support of the agency’s mission.
