About The Position

The Epic Grand Central Analyst is responsible for designing, building, maintaining, and supporting Epic’s Grand Central (ADT) application, which manages patient movement—including admissions, discharges, transfers, bed management, transport workflows, and patient placement. This role collaborates with Patient Access, Bed Control, Nursing, Revenue Cycle, and other operational areas to ensure efficient hospital throughput and compliant workflows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, IT, business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 1–3+ years of EHR experience, ideally in Epic.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to translate operational needs into technical solutions
  • Experience in the Microsoft Office suite of products, including Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team
  • Discretion and ability to handle sensitive information
  • Time management and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze business and clinical requirements to develop system solutions aligned with best practices.
  • Participate in system upgrades, release management, and new feature implementation.
  • Support document management functions such as scanning, indexing, chart completion, and release processes.
  • Perform application upgrades, testing, and new feature implementations.
  • Build and maintain ADT workflows, including admission, transfer, discharge, and pre‑arrival processes.
  • Configure bed planning, patient placement logic, unit rules, transport queues, and activity records.
  • Maintain security templates, navigators, work queues, and reporting needs related to patient flow.
  • Investigate issues, identify root causes, and develop long‑term solutions.
  • Use Sherlock logs and Epic-provided tools to resolve issues and collaborate with Epic Technical Support when needed.
  • Monitor and resolve system-related errors, duplicate MRNs, and workflow breakdowns.
  • Work with clinicians, scheduling teams, and operational leaders to understand workflows and translate needs into system functionality.
  • Participate in application workgroups, governance committees, and project teams.
  • Communicate system changes, training needs, and upgrade impacts to stakeholders.
  • Monitor and evaluate system performance, ensuring optimal functionality and data integrity.
  • Participate in cross-functional project teams to ensure system integration across Epic modules and other hospital systems.
  • Partner with clinical and operational leaders to improve patient flow and reduce bottlenecks.
  • Support throughput initiatives, reducing wait times and improving bed turnover processes.
  • Lead or participate in multidisciplinary workgroups, governance committees, and optimization sessions.
  • Translate operational needs into system design changes or enhancements.
  • Develop and execute testing strategies for new builds, patches, upgrades, and integrations.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation, including build specifications, workflow diagrams, and change logs.
  • Create and maintain documentation for application workflows, build, testing, and training.
  • Document system build, workflows, work queue processes, and maintenance procedures.
  • Support training teams by providing build knowledge, preparing training materials, or validating workflows.
  • Provide on‑site support during go-live, optimizations, and new clinic rollouts.
  • Provide end-user support and training when needed.
