About The Position

A Grain Truck Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting agricultural commodities, such as grain, from farms, storage facilities, or processing plants to designated locations. The role involves operating heavy-duty trucks or trailers, ensuring timely deliveries, and adhering to all safety and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Obtain a valid CDL (Commercial Driver's License) with required endorsements (e.g., HazMat, Tanker) within six months of employment and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Follow safety and compliance standards to help ensure their well-being and the safety of others.
  • Prior experience operating grain trucks or similar vehicles is preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to operate machinery.
  • Familiarity with grain handling processes and safety protocols.
  • The role involves physical labor, requiring lifting and moving heavy objects for loading and unloading.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions.
  • Commitment to following safety guidelines and regulations.
  • Strong organization.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • This position requires driving for extended periods and working outdoors in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Load, secure, and transport grain and related products to specified locations, ensuring cargo is delivered on time and in good condition.
  • Operate trucks and trailers (e.g., hopper-bottom, dump trailers) safely and efficiently, following all traffic laws and company policies.
  • Assist with loading and unloading grain, ensuring proper handling to prevent product loss or contamination.
  • Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance of trucks, including checking brakes, tires, lights, and fluid levels; report any issues promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, logs of hours driven, and compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and comply with state and federal transportation laws.
