About The Position

This position is responsible for performing tasks assigned by supervisor that are associated with the day-to-day operations of a grain elevator under supervision. Must complete the entry level requirements prior to being a Class 1 operator. This position pays $17.15/hr with a $2.00 shift increase for 2nd Shift. Normal hours 7:30am-4pm. The following information describes the physical activities that are performed during the normal work day by the team members performing this job classification. The percentage of the normal work day that the physical activity is conducted will be identified as follows: Rarely 1-5% of the time in an eight (8) hour work day Occasionally 6-33% of the time in an eight (8) hour work day Frequently 34-66% of the time in an eight (8) hour work day Continuously 67-100% of the time in an eight (8) hour work day Vision (continuously) needed to perform job duties safely. Balance (continuously) good balance needed to walk safely. Stand (continuously) stand while waiting for trucks to enter and exit dump pits while unloading. Forward bend (continuously) required to forward bend to open trailer doors and lift rail car lids. Walk (frequently) walk a few steps at a time while unloading trucks. Walking (frequently) Required to walk to and from break area and to workstations as well as beside company railroad tracks. Push (frequently) push with a force up to 25# to sweep grain. Reach (frequently) reach down to lift railcar lids. Grip (frequently) grip with a force up to 25# to hold and operate brooms and scoops. Computer (frequently) use a computer to load/unload trucks and when loading rail cars. Reach (occasionally) reach up to open dump trailer latches. Hours worked: 8 to 14 hours per day. Guaranteed 40 hours per week. Increased hours during harvest seasons (JUNE-JULY, AUGUST-NOVEMEBER) which varies upon weather and company need. Breaks: As needed. Work Environment: Must be able to work in a Dusty Environment Must be able to work in heat during summer, cold during winter, and rain if needed. Must be able to stand for long periods of time between breaks. Must be able to Climb ladder Must be able to Climb Stairs Must be able to operate trailer doors/tarps Opening some dump trailers could require reaching over head. Must be able to bend over and lift railcar lids when opening and closing lids. Must be able to bend over and seal railcar hopper doors. Must be able to lift 75 lbs.   • 3-month operator experience listed on the application (can be a combination of employers as long as experience is as least 3 months).
  • 180 days wait period from last termination date.
  • 3X rule (candidates cannot have worked for Tyson 3X before.
