About The Position

The Amentum Space Exploration Group (ASEG) is seeking a Graduate Level intern to provide support to the Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) Advanced Concepts Office (ACO) for Digital Engineering and Space Exploration System Modeling. ACO specializes in concept definition studies for space exploration elements. The Office consists of multi-discipline design teams that can provide fully integrated assessments of missions and vehicle elements. The graduate student intern will work under the direction of experienced engineers and subject matter experts in the Advanced Concepts Office to support Digital Engineering capability development activities related to the integration of ontologies into ACO tools and workflows. The Intern can expect challenging assignments such as: Developing an ontological model library of function components to enable correct-by-construction functional architecting Integrating ontologies into the Dyreqt framework using Owlready2 Developing new methods for infusing ontological reasoning into ACO collaborative design sessions

Requirements

  • A BS degree in engineering, science, or related field is required. Degree from an ABET accredited university is preferred.
  • Must be able to provide own transportation.
  • Skills and experience using the Python programming language and the Owlready2 modeling framework is required.
  • General knowledge of aerospace systems and systems engineering concepts
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate initiative and proactive abilities in building relationships with team members and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate the capability to plan and perform analyses independently and with a team.
  • Demonstrate strong technical writing and presentation skills to present data to customers.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with JPL's Ontological Modeling Language (OML) is highly desired
  • Prior experience supporting MSFC ACO is highly desired.

Responsibilities
