About The Position

Graduate research assistants are students who, in the course of their academic training, are employed in part-time or temporary research positions, where the student's academic training is based in part on the research performed. All duties and services of graduate research assistants are to be carried out under the supervision and direction of faculty or administration. These duties may include assisting a faculty member in descriptive, exploratory or experimental research; publication activities, data collection, data management and/or data analysis. Testing Services is committed to providing exceptional, accessible and comprehensive testing for the University of Central Oklahoma. All tests are administered under standardized conditions that are efficient, fair, and secure. Our testing center maintains and adheres to the NCTA Professional Standards and Guidelines. In addition, we are dedicated to providing alternatives to on-campus course work that will assist students with their educational goals. The graduate research position will assist and support the Enrollment and Student Success Testing Services staff by performing computer and customer service-related duties in an office setting. Duties such as proctoring high-stakes examinations, processing exam materials, making copies, answering phones, taking messages, typing letters, greeting visitors, data entry, filing, scanning documents, office errands, answering questions, assisting the reception area, providing customer service to students, faculty and staff. Responsibilities also include other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Classified as a graduate student at the University of Central Oklahoma.
  • Basic knowledge of office equipment is preferred (copier, fax, scanner, etc.).
  • Computer literacy is required, including Microsoft Office programs such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Efficiency to research data on the Internet as needed.
  • Honor the importance of confidentiality with office matters.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Sensitivity of intercultural communication.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
