About The Position

The Graduate Project Engineer (Life Sciences) position is an exciting opportunity to join PM Group’s quickly growing Boston area team located out of Burlington, MA. Together we are sharing knowledge, learning, growing, and continuing to be an integral part of supporting PM Group’s ongoing expansion in the US. Our office is executing cutting-edge projects for Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology and Cell & Gene Therapy facilities – from feasibility through to qualification – for both local and international clients. With our clients and partners, we will deliver projects that improve the everyday lives of people across the globe. This is an entry level career position and we are looking for an Engineer or Architect who enjoys client interaction as well as the technical aspects of the position. This individual is responsible for helping to drive the direction and performance of design projects while ensuring alignment with project objectives, requirements, metrics, and quality standards. Expect project work to include all levels of design: feasibility studies, conceptual & schematic design, construction documentation, and construction administration. Project sizes will vary and will consist primarily of life science industry projects doing both existing building improvements and new construction. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Process, Electrical, or Mechanical preferred) or Architecture
  • Advanced degree in Project Management required
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge and/or experience with project controls

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience as a co-op or intern Engineer or Architectural Designer for an AE firm in the Life Sciences industry is highly desirable
  • Experience in highly regulated environments such as Pharma, Medical Device, or Semiconductor is a plus
  • Pursuit of Project Management Professional (PMP) or Professional Engineer (PE) licensure preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all work complies with PM Group’s Service Delivery platforms and Quality Management System
  • Execute all project phases safely and effectively
  • Provide support under the supervision of an experienced Project Manager, including:
  • Technical and commercial delivery of assigned tasks
  • Development of construction, procurement, and contracting strategies using PM Group standard tools
  • Coordination of design across all disciplines, including sub-contractors and site teams
  • Establish and maintain the project change management log
  • Prepare change orders for Project Manager review
  • Identify and document changes to project scope and design
  • Review changes regularly with the Project Manager or senior Project Engineers
  • Obtain approval prior to implementing any changes
  • Assist in setting up communication and reporting structures (meetings, reports, etc.) and address customer complaints or issues
  • Support project close-out activities, including certification, handover, close-out review/report, project metrics, lessons learned, and archiving
  • Prepare customer-facing project reports (weekly, monthly, or as required) covering cost and schedule status
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships
  • Provide visibility into key project risks, trends, and areas of concern
  • Support special projects as assigned
