About The Position

The Cornell SC Johnson College of Business is comprised of the university’s three accredited business schools: The Hotel School, the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management, and the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management. The Graduate Field Administrator will assist the Director of Graduate Studies (DGS) in the administrative tasks associated with the graduate program in the field of Applied Economics and Management with a specialty in student services relations. The individual will work collaboratively with the Manager of Graduate Research Programs and the Graduate Field Funding Coordinator and will be a liaison between the graduate students, Graduate School, the Bursar’s Office, the International Services Office, and faculty by answering questions about the graduate program and the process of obtaining an MS and/or PhD degree.

  • Experience with diverse student populations, and handling sensitive information.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Office management skills.

Responsibilities

  • In coordination with College Registrar office, manage and ensure the security of permanent records for all MS and PhD matriculated students, including maintaining course and grade records and completing annual progress reports for both MS and PhD students.
  • Oversee the completion of forms and petitions, ensuring all submissions are complete and accurate.
  • Process graduate applications through web-based systems and track their status (admit, reject, withdraw, etc.).
  • Review and organize all MS and PhD applications to ensure submission of required materials, providing the admissions committees with complete and accessible information for the selection process.
  • Arrange travel and create itineraries for prospective PhD students and compile necessary details for reimbursement processing.
  • Generate and send acceptance/rejection letters in coordination with the Director of Graduate Studies (DGS) and the Graduate School.
  • Serve as the placement coordinator for graduate students on the job market.
  • Assist in creating marketing materials, mailings, and tracking interactions with prospective students.
  • Offer guidance to students dealing with challenging or sensitive situations, collaborating with Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) as necessary.
  • Possess knowledge of finance, budgeting, bursar services, and payroll appointments to provide backup support when required.
  • Regularly update and maintain the Applied Economics and Management MS and PhD program websites and student profile pages to ensure the information is current and accurate.
  • Plan and execute events such as Orientation, Graduation, Open House, and Fall Welcome Event, along with workshops and conferences. Responsibilities include managing travel arrangements, preparing agendas and promotional materials, and conducting post-event assessments to measure success.
  • Provide backup support to the Graduate Research Programs Manager, who oversees the Hotel Administration and Management fields, and to the Funding Coordinator, ensuring efficient management of funding coordination across all graduate fields. This includes tracking theses, updating the website, supporting alumni events, managing student finances, handling assistantship and admission appointments, and maintaining accurate records in Watermark.
