About The Position

Graduate Administrative Assistant - Service Desk Assistant The administrative assistantship position is part of the Educational Technology Services (ETS) team in the College of Education, located in the Benjamin Building at the University of Maryland, College Park. This initial appointment will be for 12 months Requires a weekly commitment of 20 hours without major interruption Is fully on-site, start date in late Spring 2026 Must be enrolled in a Graduate Program at the University of Maryland, College Park The responsibilities of this role include: Maintaining adequate shift coverage during normal business operations per semester; Acting as the first point of contact for faculty and staff seeking to loan equipment or make a reservation Taking reservations for equipment and entering the information into a database and calendars Completing daily, weekly, and monthly forms, as well as equipment maintenance protocols Monitoring and corresponding through the ETS-desk email account Troubleshooting Tier 1 technical issues in ETS-designated classrooms and conference rooms Maintaining records in the Tech Desk inventory system Other related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer-service-oriented approach
  • Experience in a customer-facing or service role
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications
  • Availability to work up to 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills with the ability to assess situations and develop effective solutions
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and engage professionally with a diverse community of faculty, staff, and students
  • Capacity to quickly learn and apply new information and systems
  • Must be a registered graduate student in good standing enrolled in a degree program at the University of Maryland and must be making satisfactory progress toward the degree.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with both Windows and Apple (Mac) environments preferred
  • Exposure to audio, video, and computer equipment is a plus
  • Prior experience in an academic or higher education setting preferred
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain thorough and accurate documentation
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and adapt to changing needs
  • Must possess a customer-friendly attitude
  • This position is not eligible for telework and requires an anticipated graduation date of May 2027 or later.

Responsibilities
