About The Position

Seton Hall University Libraries is pleased to seek an innovative Graduate Assistant (GA) for Research Data Services, University Libraries. In this position, the GA will be responsible for maintaining daily activities such assisting students and faculty with Data consultations, assigning software licenses, troubleshooting technical questions, and managing the workshop calendar. This position requires knowledge of research methods: quantitative and/or qualitative as well as two or more supporting programs. The GA position will conduct workshops and training for the SHU community.

Requirements

  • Applicant must have a Bachelor's degree and be admitted to a at Seton Hall University graduate degree before applying
  • Applicant must maintain complete confidentiality of students and scholars' data
  • Applicant must have knowledge with two or more data analysis programs (Excel, SPSS, STATA, R, Python, Atlas.ti, ArcGIS, PowerBI, Tableau, MATLAB,or other)
  • Experience with quantitative and/or qualitative research methods
  • Applicant must have excellent communication skills (writing, speaking, and listening)
  • Applicant must work 20 hours per week following the University Calendar, not the
  • Experience with quantitative and/or qualitative research methods
  • Experience teaching, tutoring, training, or mentoring (1-2 years)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AWS
  • Experience with Shell scripting, Linux commands and Python
  • Experience with technical writing Experience with statistical analysis or Machine Learning.
  • IRB CITI training certificate

Responsibilities

  • Assist data services team in data consultations for students and scholars
  • Respond quickly to faculty and student support requests and handle (software requests should be handled in a timely manner
  • Prepare reports for workshops attendance and data consultations
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling classes, updating the RDS website and blog, coordinating scheduling and paperwork for student research projects
  • Create webpage content for data services webpage
  • Teach workshops and/or classes
  • Create outreach initiatives to promote data services.
  • Create flyers and marketing materials for data services.
  • Be able to consistently learn new data analysis tools
  • Collect and analyze data
  • Conduct literature reviews
  • Assist with tasks and projects as assigned by the supervisor as project priorities may shift over the semester
  • Maintain clear communication with supervisors regarding any issues that arise
