The University of Nevada, Reno Honors College is seeking to hire two Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) to teach introductory honors seminars under the supervision of a lead honors faculty member and the Honors College Associate Dean. The Honors College is the fastest growing college at the University of Nevada, Reno, and expects to welcome 325 first-year students in fall 2026. All first-year students are required to complete HON 109, a one-credit first-year experience discussion-based seminar that emphasizes critical thinking, engagement with diverse primary source texts, community-building, and personal and professional development. As the Honors College is an umbrella college that serves high-performing undergraduate students with any major, all HON prefix courses are interdisciplinary; thus, GTAs may have any disciplinary background. The Honors College recognizes that GTAs are, above all else, students. To that end, GTAs have access to a faculty mentoring program that includes regular meetings, teaching observations, and incentives and opportunities for professional development.
