About The Position

The Residence Life Graduate Assistantship provides essential support in managing student housing facilities and fostering a positive residential experience for students. Their responsibilities typically include assisting with program development, coordinating housing assignments, supporting resident assistants, conducting administrative tasks, ensuring safety and security, providing guidance to residents, and contributing to the overall goals of the residence life department. They play a crucial role in creating a welcoming and supportive living environment conducive to student success and well-being. The ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays is an essential function of this position. Requirements

  • Completion of Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Must be accepted and enrolled full time (at least six (6) credit hours per semester) in a Master’s degree program during the academic year (fall and spring semester).
  • Experience in residence life and/or student leadership including previous experience in programming for college students, orientation or similar leadership experience.
  • Experience living or working in a residence hall, peer counselor, or campus/student leadership position(s).
  • Ability to exercise basic human relations skills in directing and motivating staff and dealing with varied constituencies on and off campus.
  • Strong organizational and computer skills.
  • AED and/or CPR training preferred.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development and implementation of residence life programs and activities.
  • Support resident assistants in addressing student concerns and enforcing community standards.
  • Coordinate housing assignments, room changes, and check-in/check-out procedures.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as record-keeping, data entry, and correspondence.
  • Conduct regular rounds and inspections of residential facilities to ensure safety and security.
  • Collaborate with campus partners on initiatives related to student housing and campus life.
  • Provide support and guidance to residents on academic, personal, and social matters.
  • Participate in on-call duties and respond to emergencies or crises as needed.
  • Contribute to the overall mission and goals of the residence life department.

Benefits

  • This is a 12-month position with a contract that requires annual renewal.
  • Monthly stipend of $250.00 throughout the yearly contract.
  • University housing is provided for this position.
  • Graduate Assistants will be provided with the 120-day meal plan option. Meals are available only when the dining hall is open for traditional students.
  • Eligible for fall, spring, and summer tuition waiver. The student is responsible for payment of books, general fees, parking, and living expenses. Must follow tuition waiver policy and submittal deadlines.
  • Note: Certain benefits associated with this position (including tuition waivers, stipends, housing, and meal plans) may be treated as taxable income under IRS guidelines. Tax treatment varies by individual circumstance; the student is responsible for any applicable taxes.
