The School of Physical Sciences at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock is seeking individuals to serve as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in our Geology program. This is an on-campus appointment. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Regular admission to a UA Little Rock graduate degree program or good standing with the UA Little Rock Graduate School for continuing graduate students
  • Ability to work the required hours (FT-50% - 20 hours per week/PT-25% - 10 hours per week) with regular attendance
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities
  • Skill in planning, organization, and coordination of activities
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
  • Skills in both verbal and written communication
  • Skill in the use of a personal computer and related software applications

Responsibilities

  • Attend class sessions
  • Serve as an assistant in laboratory activities
  • Lead a class activity such as a discussion group or demonstration
  • Tutor students
  • Hold Office Hours and respond to email questions from students
  • Proctor examinations
  • Grade tests and homework assignments
  • Assist with the development and evaluation of instructional materials
