About The Position

The Graduate Assistant for Student Engagement and Community Relations will gain hands-on experience in budget management, printed and digital marketing, and event planning – both on the large and small scale – as well as advising the Cardinal Activities Board. The GA will learn to build and maintain relationships with campus leaders, campus partners, and community stakeholders to foster opportunities for collaboration as well as represent the Office of Student Engagement and Belonging at various college events, including, but not limited to: tabling at resource fairs, delivering presentations to prospective students, etc. Students in the Higher Education or Organizational Leadership degree programs will have the opportunity to utilize leadership development and management theories and apply structured processes in the various tasks assigned. - Assist the Coordinator(s) of Student Engagement & Belonging with various Orientation and Welcome Week-related initiatives. - Assist with enhancing the student engagement experience by creating and managing large-scale programming, including, but not limited to: bi-annual Student Engagement Fair, Homecoming Week, and advising the Cardinal Activities Board ( CAB ). - Oversee commuter student initiatives, including, but not limited to: Commuter Catalog newsletter, commuter lockers, commuter breakfast, etc. - Assists in the development of comprehensive marketing plans for Student Engagement and Belonging, including, but not limited to: print, social media, and other digital platforms, i.e. Presence or Mailchimp for weekly newsletters. - Assist the Director for Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging with building management efforts in partnership with WAC front desk workers. - Assist with assessment strategies to support the Office of Student Engagement & Belonging. - Other related duties as assigned by Director for Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging.

Requirements

  • Accepted into a graduate program at North Central College.
  • Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Detail-oriented and adept at managing tasks to meet deadlines effectively.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Intermediate skills using Canva or other graphic design platforms.
