About The Position

This position is responsible for assisting the baseball program with the recruitment and retention of student-athletes while working to ensure the best student experience possible for the members of the Benedictine University Baseball Program.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's Degree Required. Must be enrolled as a Benedictine student in good standing.
• Experience: Coaching or playing experience and extensive knowledge of the sport at collegiate athletic level preferred.
• Qualifications: Applicant must obtain acceptance into a Benedictine Graduate program of Master of Business Administration, Master of Science in Business Analytics, Master of Science in Management & Organizational Behavior or Master of Public Health.
• Specific Skills: Organizational skills, writing and typing skills, interpersonal skills, data entry and budget management skills and demonstrated supervisory skills.
• Specific Knowledge, Licenses, Certifications: Yes, valid driver's license, and CPR/First Aid/ AED certification within the first 90-days of being hired.
• Physical Requirements: May be required to lift up to 50 lbs. Must reach, bend, stoop, lift. Must sit, walk or stand for long periods of time. Ability to handle varying levels of stress while maintaining professional demeanor. Possible lifting, bending, walking, kneeling, stretching, and stooping. Frequent districtwide and statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours; outdoor exposure to sun/heat or cold weather.
• Ability to speak clearly so listeners can understand. Understand the speech of another person.
• See details of objects that are less than a few feet away or are more than a few feet away. Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
• The following of campus specific guidelines for pandemic protocols are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the baseball program with the identification and successful recruitment of qualified student athletes to help place the program in a position of competitive leadership in the GSAC (Great Southwest Athletic Conference).
• Responsible for coaching and mentoring student-athletes as well as assisting with film breakdown, developing and implementing scouting reports, game and practice plans, and coaching in all traditional and non-traditional segments that will place the program in a position of competitive leadership in the GSAC (Great Southwest Athletic Conference).
• Responsible for assisting the head coach, program, and university personnel with the retention of student athletes. This includes social and academic support, meeting regularly with the members of your assigned position group to monitor their academic progress to ensure players are investing the time and effort required to be successful in the classroom.
• Provide instruction in technique and safety procedures in adherence with NAIA regulations and Sports Performance expectations in the declared playing and practice seasons.
• Develop relationships within Benedictine University and the University community.
• Attend departmental and University related meetings and events.
• Maintain a positive student athlete assessment for program from student athletes.
• Work in coordination with University offices and departments to coordinate and facilitate University events.
• Maintain positive relationships with alumni, parents, students, officials, volunteers and fans.
• Serve on University, conference and national committees as needed.
• Positively promote Benedictine University and the Department of Athletics on campus and in the community.
