Purpose of Role Be an integral part of our Graduate Admissions Team, managing prospective graduate students who are seeking to further their education with a graduate degree. The person in this role communicates regularly with students and faculty and must be a team player, willing to work with our entire enrollment management team to continue our exceptional success and enrollment growth. About This Opportunity Joining our Enrollment Management, the Graduate Admissions Counselor will be responsible for the following: Reporting to the Director of Graduate Admissions, the Graduate Admissions Counselor represents Daemen University to prospective students and organizations and works to increase inquiries and convert applications into enrolled students. The Graduate Admissions Counselor exhibits superior customer service skills and professionalism throughout daily interactions and communications with students including interviews, phone calls, emails and information sessions. The Graduate Admissions Counselor creates and implements recruitment strategies to reach prospective students through events, referrals, online and print communications, and outreaches to businesses and organizations.

Requirements

  • The Graduate Admissions must have an earned bachelor's degree.
  • The Graduate Counselor must demonstrate an ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with team members, faculty, students, alumni, administrators, and staff.
  • A flexible work schedule that will include days, evenings, and some weekends is required.
  • Travel, a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle is required.
  • An engaging and outgoing individual with customer service and sales skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • A Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, education, or a related field, is preferred.
  • Prefer Graduate Admissions Experience.
  • Prefer admissions, sales, or customer service experience.
  • Experience with Slate or other CRM.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships by counseling students beginning from the prospective stage, applied stage, and accepted stage. Communicate effectively with prospective students in a timely manner, providing superior student service.
  • Develop and maintain a strong relationship with department chairs and additional offices on campus.
  • Manage the application process for graduate students including the review of applications and enrollment decisions.
  • Strategically plan and manage a graduate working territory to best reach the student population for Daemen University.
  • Be the ambassador for the WNY Consortium; engage new stakeholders to increase recruitment.
  • Collaborate with the enrollment team and external offices for event programming and marketing.
  • Ability to work on a registration deadline, strive towards university-wide enrollment goals and use outstanding customer service to recruit students to the university programs.
  • Ability to work independently, and to arrange information sessions, set appointments and promote the university in a positive manner.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with all enrollment management staff. Participated in cross training and shared responsibilities for the overall enrollment success of the university.
  • Ability to follow the expectation of treating fellow employees, students and the institution's guests with civility, and to refrain from activities that disrupt the efficient functioning of the university.
  • Ability to follow directions and complete tasks accurately as well as accept supervisory input and constructive criticism.
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs. and stand for an extended period as part of travel and college fair recruitment.
  • Must have a valid NYS driver's license.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
