About The Position

The Grading Inspector is primarily responsible for inspecting and officially certifying grain product quality in accordance with USDA Standards of Grain for producers, shippers, processors, buyers, marketers, and other parties with a financial interest in the grain industry. The Grading Inspector will work with the other members of the team to work toward operational goals while maintaining quality and efficiencies.

Requirements

  • Highschool diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Basic knowledge of working with a computer and mechanical skills.
  • Good work ethic (team environment, both safe and quality), efficient and willingness to perform all required work with good attendance.
  • Must be able to move freely throughout the operations plant to include walking on elevated platforms, standing and sitting.
  • Ability to regularly lift and move up to 50 lbs., frequently lift and move up to 25 lbs.
  • Exposure to extreme climate temperatures, humidity and noise (indoor and outdoor)
  • Required to wear protective equipment to include hard hat, safety glasses, protective footwear, gloves, coveralls, and other PPE as required.
  • Successful completion of initial and ongoing employment screens, including but not limited to criminal background and vehicle record as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in agricultural commodities or farming, specifically in grain production preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately completes quality grade in accordance with USDA Standards.
  • Accurately enters all product identity information for all product produced in an inventory database.
  • Performs requested tests and samples; to include weighing, stowage examinations, grading and certification of domestic and export grain.
  • Process using appropriate security procedures to maintain the integrity of the sample prior to shipping or inspection.
  • Provides prompt and timely feedback to appropriate personnel relative to production related problems.
  • Maintains proper security procedures to preserve the integrity of equipment, sample and work records.
  • Maintains a professional and safe work environment.
  • Must have open availability to work a flexible schedule (rotate days and nights) when production requires including; ability to work entire shift, extended shift hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Other duties assigned.
