About The Position

Requirements

  • Experience in commercial food prep or food service preferred
  • Understanding of basic cooking techniques for hot and cold food
  • Familiarity with food safety standards and health codes
  • Experience using commercial kitchen equipment is a plus
  • Able to read, understand, and follow recipes in English
  • Verbal proficiency in English and basic written communication
  • Strong attention to cleanliness, detail, and accuracy
  • Basic math skills for food measurements and calculations
  • Team-oriented, adaptable, and dependable
  • Stand for long periods (up to 8 hours)
  • Push, lift, and carry equipment or food items (up to 50 lbs.) up to 100 times daily
  • Use carts and dollies to move product between coolers and workstations
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, and reach overhead for items
  • Work in both hot and cold environments, including outdoors as needed
  • Handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced kitchen setting
  • Follow all health code and sanitation regulations
  • Must be available to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays

Responsibilities

  • Prepare fresh meals according to established recipes and daily prep lists
  • Chop vegetables, fruits, and assemble cold entrees and side dishes
  • Prepare soups, cornbread, and biscuits; refill as needed throughout the day
  • Store and rotate leftover food properly to prevent spoilage
  • Test food temperatures and follow food safety standards
  • Stock cold line with prepped vegetables and replenish items as needed
  • Cover breaks for kitchen cooks when available
  • Communicate product shortages and equipment issues to the manager
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in line with health department regulations
  • Follow all safety and sanitation protocols
  • Provide excellent customer service as needed
  • Attend scheduled team meetings
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Food Service Manager
