Role Overview: This position will serve as a GIS Analyst Intern for the Technical Services Division of the Indiana Department of Transportation. The Intern will be responsible for a variety of division projects and support. The objective of the position is to provide a valuable learning experience for the intern, as well as to assist the agency in completing their assignments and responsibilities. The Intern will report to the District Traffic Engineer.

Requirements

Working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
Indiana Driver's License is required to operate state vehicles
Basic knowledge of the mission and role of INDOT
Basic understanding of state policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
Knowledge of state government structure, administrative procedures, and the legislative process
Ability to research, draft, and edit data and reports
Analytical skills
Ability to handle multiple projects
Ability to operate computer tools, including GIS and various Microsoft Office software products
Good research and writing skills
Good interpersonal and communication skills suitable for a wide variety of contacts
Confidence and ability to learn on the job and adapt quickly to changing circumstances

Responsibilities

Evaluate existing Customer Service Access program provide upgrade recommendations
Update/Reflect the Official Actions of the Crawfordsville District roads in a GIS layer
Update/Reflect the No Passing Zones of the Crawfordsville District roads in a GIS layer
Update/Reflect the Agreements of the Crawfordsville District roads in a GIS layer
Assist Traffic Operations with updating and entering sheet and panel sign inventory in a GIS layer
Prepare a presentation for the Crawfordsville District to reflect on projects' accomplishments and skills/experience gained during the internship period
Other duties as assigned
