Office Work Model: Hybrid — In-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday; remote Monday and Friday The Government Relations intern will assist with the Government Relations team’s day-to-day functions and gain hands-on experience in how Congress operates, how NRF advocates on our top policy issues, and how we engage with members of Congress and their staffs.

Requirements

  • Current rising junior or senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in political science or related field
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong research, writing, and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • High level of professionalism

Nice To Haves

  • Prior internship or work experience in government, public policy, or advocacy
  • Familiarity with the legislative process
  • Strong interpersonal skills and intellectual curiosity

Responsibilities

  • Track and research legislative developments, federal and state policy issues, and government affairs initiatives
  • Track, schedule and participate in organizing legislative visits
  • Shadow NRF policy experts to Capitol Hill meetings and committee meetings
  • Assist with the coordination of meetings, conferences, and events, including logistics planning, preparing materials, and compiling notes
  • Support the planning and execution of NRF’s premier advocacy event
  • Perform other duties as assigned
