About The Position

Join our team as a Government, Industry, & Member Relations Intern, where you'll gain invaluable hands-on experience, build lasting professional connections, and make a real impact on the Agriculture community! Horizon Farm Credit is seeking a full-time Government, Industry, & Member Relations Intern for the summer of 2026 in either our Mount Joy, PA, Mechanicsburg, PA, Shoemakersville, PA, York PA, or Westminster, MD branch location. Intern may work remotely one day per week. The selected candidate will participate in a paid 10-12 week internship. Summer intern hours are typically Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. The internship program is scheduled to run from mid May through early August 2026.

Requirements

  • Ambitious student currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree program in Agriculture, Ag Business, Marketing, Industry Relations Communications or related field.
  • Preferred expected graduation dates between May 2027 - December 2028.
  • Strong academic background and a GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Experience in agriculture is considered a plus, but not necessary.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrates creativity, strategic thinking, and thought leadership.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel to and from various offices and events within Horizon Farm Credit's territory.
  • Ability to work independently with general supervision and proven self-starter.
  • Detail oriented, independent judgement skills, strong organizational skills.
  • Flexible to a changing work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the association's Government, Industry, & Member Relations department with developing and executing key projects and initiatives related to government relations, ag innovation, industry relations, events and sponsorships, customer education, and young, beginning, and small farmers.
  • Support department initiatives including but not limited to events, customer education projects, government affairs activities, industry relations efforts, and more.
  • Support development of educational content for young, beginning, small, minority and/or veteran (YBSMV) farmers, which could include webinars, online modules, and more.
  • Collaborate with internal workgroups on identified projects.
  • Provide support to the Farm Credit Foundation for Agricultural Advancement's scholarship program, including event planning and data analysis.
  • Assist with inputting participation activity and records into CRM.
  • Assist with administrative needs of the department.
  • Career shadow Horizon Farm Credit roles outside of the department.
