About The Position

This position will focus on providing copy cataloging support for our government documents collection. The library holds many government documents from previous decades that have not been cataloged into the electronic catalog. The work for this position will involve locating existing catalog records from OCLC and assisting AMS staff in properly ingesting the records into our local catalog. Much of this work will be done in our Lake Street storage facility, as that is where the majority of the uncatalogued government documents are located.

Requirements

  • Experience working in a library
  • Ability to work independently

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with an integrated library system such as Alma (this work does not have to be directly related to cataloging)

Responsibilities

  • Copy Cataloging
  • Search for existing catalog records using OCLC or other electronic sources
  • Perform minor edits to records to reflect local practices
  • Provide record batches in proper format to AMS staff for uploading into the Alma ILS
