About The Position

The Public Policy and Government Affairs (PPGA) department is a strategic priority for UNCF, leveraging over 25 years of Capitol Hill and advocacy experience to inform and influence critical national policy discussions. The team's work focuses on building a robust pipeline of underrepresented students who become highly qualified college graduates and supporting member institutions in improving student outcomes. UNCF, the United Negro College Fund, has been a driving force in educational achievement for more than 80 years. Its mission is to cultivate a strong, nationally recognized pipeline of HBCU students who achieve college graduation with UNCF's support. UNCF also ensures its member institutions serve as respected models for student success. Since its founding in 1944, UNCF has raised over $6 billion in private support, provided scholarships, and enabled more than 500,000 scholars and low-income students to graduate from HBCUs and embark on professional careers. UNCF is dedicated to bridging the educational attainment gap by enhancing postsecondary access and success for student groups, particularly those from low-income and first-generation backgrounds. The Government Affairs Intern will play a supportive role within the PPGA team, contributing to UNCF’s advocacy and policy objectives.
