About The Position

The Qualcomm Government Affairs Assistant provides critical administrative and operational support to the Government Affairs team in Washington, DC. This role helps ensure the smooth day-to-day functioning of the office by coordinating logistics, managing communications, and supporting policy and stakeholder engagement efforts. The ideal candidate will have experience working with Government officials and knowledge of the Washington DC environment, in addition to traditional administrative duties. This position provides complex and advanced administrative assistance to the VP of Federal & Congressional Affairs and team, and occasionally to SVP and C-suite executives. It requires advanced knowledge of industry standards in various administrative areas, including policies, guidelines, and procedures. The role leverages advanced proficiency in software such as Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, & PowerPoint) and shared file services (SharePoint, MS Teams, OneDrive, etc.) to provide effective and efficient support. The assistant must exercise professional and ethical judgment as the work is often critical or confidential, with assignments potentially diverse in scope and related to various functional areas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of Administrative Assistant or related work experience
  • OR Associate's degree and 6+ years of Administrative Assistant or related work experience
  • OR High School Diploma or equivalent and 8+ years of Administrative Assistant or related work experience
  • Completed advanced degrees in a relevant field may be substituted for up to two years (Master’s = one year, Doctorate = two years) of work experience

  • DC experience in a government or government-related role preferred
  • 5+ years of administrative experience preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Manage calendars, schedule meetings, and coordinate complex domestic and international travel
  • Prepare expense reports, spreadsheets, and briefing materials
  • Maintain organized systems and expertly completes various office tasks (iProc, vendor support, internal collaboration tools, etc)
  • Manage front desk operations, including greeting visitors, coordinating guest access, and supporting day‑to‑day office flow
  • Support team that tracks legislative activity, hearings, and key policy developments
  • Assist in preparing background materials, memos, and summaries on policy issues
  • Support planning and logistics for meetings with government officials, stakeholders, and partners
  • Draft and proofread correspondence, including emails, invitations, and follow-ups
  • Monitor relevant news and policy updates; distribute summaries to the team
  • Help coordinate events, roundtables, and briefings
  • Maintain and update contact databases and distribution lists
  • Support relationship management with policymakers, industry groups, and other stakeholders
  • Ensure smooth office operations, including supply management and vendor coordination
  • Assist with special projects and team initiatives as needed
