About The Position

The Role: Our site in Aurora, IL is seeking a Governance, Risk and Compliance Intern to join our team for the Summer 2026 season. This assignment is intended to be 12-14 weeks in duration, beginning in May 2026. The intern will work closely with the Cybersecurity Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) team. Our organization is dedicated to maintaining robust governance practices, effectively managing risk, and ensuring compliance with both regulatory requirements and internal standards. The GRC team is currently driving several critical initiatives, including policy reviews, risk assessments, and audit preparation. These projects will provide the selected candidate with a valuable, hands-on learning experience in core GRC processes and emerging cybersecurity practices.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with general governance, risk, compliance or cybersecurity principles
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Detail oriented and strong communication skills
  • Must be a currently enrolled student
  • Available to work 40 hours a week, M-F (8a-5p) beginning in mid-May/June through August/September.
  • Must be familiar with the universities requirements to participate in an internship program

Responsibilities

  • Research and create AI agents to automate repetitive GRC tasks, such as compliance checks, evidence collection, and reporting.
  • Develop and implement automated workflows within AuditBoard using Python to streamline Governance, Risk, and Compliance processes. This includes creating scripts, connectors, and rule-based triggers to reduce manual effort in areas such as evidence collection, control testing, risk scoring, and reporting.
  • Supporting risk assessment activities, including data collection and analysis aligned with CMMC and DFARS regulations.
  • Performing regulatory research and summarizing emerging requirements.
  • Assisting with policy and procedure documentation updates.
