About The Position

Under the direction of the Golf Course Superintendent, the Golf Maintenance Worker performs routine maintenance of golf course grounds and related facilities at Lake Metroparks golf courses. This position supports daily course operations by ensuring safe, attractive, and playable course conditions. The employee must be flexible to work up to 40 hours per week, including early mornings, weekends, holidays, and varying seasonal schedules. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Valid driver’s license required and must be insurable under the Agency’s policy
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying and adverse weather conditions
  • Ability to work irregular schedules including weekends and holidays
  • Variable work schedule, as the golf course is open 7 days per week from sunup to sundown; golf positions are weather dependent. Some weekend and summer holiday shifts will be required
  • Must successfully complete a pre‑employment background check
  • Capability to perform moderate to heavy physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs. regularly and up to 75 lbs. occasionally with assistance
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to complete and maintain all required training, including safety, PPE, hazardous materials, emergency communication, workplace violence prevention, sexual harassment, and fire prevention training

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in golf course maintenance, turf or landscape maintenance, groundskeeping, or general maintenance preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Performing routine golf course maintenance such as mowing, trimming, edging, bunker raking, aeration assistance, litter removal, painting, and landscaping
  • Assisting with irrigation system operation, minor repairs, and drainage projects
  • Loading, unloading, and transporting tools, supplies, and materials
  • Performing basic custodial, facility, and minor equipment maintenance duties as assigned
  • Safely operating Park District equipment and vehicles in accordance with training and policy
  • Following all safety regulations, PPE requirements, and operational procedures
  • Completing other duties as assigned by the Golf Course Superintendent or designee
