About The Position

Kentucky State Parks is pleased to offer an opportunity to maintain and oversee a beautiful Eastern Kentucky golf course designed by Arthur Hills in Louisa, Kentucky. We are currently accepting applications for the Golf Course Superintendent position at Yatesville Lake State Park Golf Course. This is a full-time position, offering numerous benefits with the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and if you inquire about this job do not forget to ask about the Department of Parks "Park Familiarization Program" for full-time employees! This position performs the duties of Golf Course Superintendent for this picturesque golf course. A candidate with the appropriate experience and education will lead a group of golf course maintenance personnel to perform all tasks necessary to maintain and improve a very good golf course. This position requires a motivated individual that will employ a "hands-on" leadership style, and someone that enjoys performing all the tasks required to present our guests with a great golfing experience. The putting greens are modified- native soil Penn cross bent grass, bermudagrass tees and fairways, and cool season roughs.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a college or university with an associate degree in plant science, turf management or a related field.
  • One year experience as a Golf Course Assistant Superintendent.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification.
  • Must obtain Kentucky Pesticide Applicator License within six months of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating all equipment and performing all tasks associated with the maintenance of a golf course.
  • Creating and managing a budget and managing an agronomic plan.
  • Good communications skills.
  • Ability to obtain and retain a Kentucky Pesticide License.
  • Golf course construction/renovation experience a plus.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Time management.
  • Leadership, teamwork, and decision-making skills.
  • Preventative maintenance experience.
