About The Position

As a Golf Course Superintendent, you will lead, manage, organize, and direct an 18-hole golf course operation in an efficient and effective manner to provide superior playing conditions, safe working surroundings, continuous employee development, and a strong team environment.

Requirements

  • Requires an Associate of Science Degree, or a two-year Certificate in an agronomic-related field, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory/management role.
  • Requires management, leadership, and people skills, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Requires strong computer skills, as it relates to industry-specific technology, utilizing the TORO GCS program.
  • Must have the propensity to develop computer skills related to, but not limited to, Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Requires general knowledge of spreadsheets, Income statements, and budgeting programs.
  • Requires sound working knowledge of the game of golf, golf course-related equipment, computerized golf course irrigation systems, and illustrated IPM systems.
  • Requires applied knowledge of private club operations as it pertains to legal liability and employee relations.
  • Requires a valid Florida driver's license.
  • Must be in compliance with and support a drug-free workplace.
  • Must possess (or acquire within the first 6 months of employment) a current State of Florida Ornamental and Turf-Restricted Use Pesticide License.
  • Requires lifting and carrying up to 60 pounds.
  • The position requires the individual to maintain flexible availability and will work weekends and holidays.
  • May be required to return to the job site at odd hours in emergency situations.
  • The nature of the position requires the individual to spend long periods of time on their feet, walking, standing, and stooping.

Responsibilities

  • Implementing and monitoring the established golf course maintenance standards on an ongoing basis to ensure superior playing conditions for the membership.
  • Assisting the Director of Golf Course Operations in the development of the summer renovation schedule, seasonal topdressing schedule, seasonal greens rolling schedule, and all other programmed maintenance events.
  • Directing the daily golf course maintenance operation that facilitates the preparation of greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, and all playing surfaces.
  • Directing all safety-related training programs and illustrating their importance through demonstrated support.
  • Utilizing interdepartmental communication skills through sharing weekly departmental activities, fostering defined goals and objectives.
