GOLF COURSE SECOND ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT
About The Position
The Second Assistant Superintendent assists with the day-to-day oversight of the maintenance and agronomic practices of the golf course and adjacent grounds, including but not limited to the clubhouse landscaping and maintenance complex. This position reports to the First Assistant Superintendent and helps oversee the department's Greenskeepers. Because of the fluctuating demands of the Club’s operation, it may be necessary that each employee perform a multitude of different functions; therefore, as an essential part of your job, you will be expected to help others when the occasion arises, just as other employees are expected to help you. Accordingly, you may be expected to perform other tasks, not specifically addressed above.
Requirements
- Ability to obtain a California Pesticide License
- Knowledge of agronomy, turf grass science and the rules of golf
- Must possess basic computer skills – Word and Excel
- Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Must be extremely organized, efficient and detail-oriented
- Must be highly motivated, goal driven and self-starter
- Ability to read and speak English is required in order to perform the duties of the job
- Must be able to work as part of a team and maintain open communication with managers and fellow coworker
- Must display professional demeanor and communicate in professional language at all times
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
Nice To Haves
- A college degree preferred, but not required
- PGA Tournament preferred, but not required
- Bilingual in English & Spanish is a plus
- GCSAA Member or apprentice preferred, but not required
- Knowledge of budgeting and expense management strongly desired
- Supervisory experience strong desired

- Help apply fertilizer and pesticides
