About The Position

Are you looking to kickstart your career in turf management or grounds maintenance? Clay County is seeking a hardworking Golf Course Maintenance Technician to help keep our greens, fairways, and facilities in championship condition. This is an entry-level role perfect for someone who enjoys working outdoors and operating equipment. This position is at Paradise Point Golf Complex in Smithville, MO.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one year of grounds maintenance or light equipment operation.
  • Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and maintain a consistent schedule (including "after-hour calls" for weather events).
  • Must be comfortable working in extreme outdoor weather (heat/cold) and performing manual labor.
  • A valid driver’s license, a clean background check, and the ability to pass a drug screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with golf course setup and turf management.
  • Skill in using hand tools and performing basic preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Strong communication skills and a courteous attitude toward the public.

Responsibilities

  • Mow greens, tees, and fairways; edge bunkers; and move hole/marker locations.
  • Plant trees, install sod, and maintain shrubs and drainage systems.
  • Safely operate and maintain specialized mowers, utility vehicles, skid loaders, and hand tools.
  • Perform basic building janitorial tasks, repair cart paths, and handle snow/ice removal during winter months.
  • Assist golfers with needs on the course as a friendly representative of the department.
