Responsibilities

  • Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on fast, friendly service.
  • Assist customers by making product suggestions and engaging in suggestive selling techniques through telephone, in‑store announcements, and direct customer interaction.
  • Answer and respond to incoming calls professionally; resolve customer complaints and escalate to the Store Director when needed.
  • Responsible for total store operations in the absence of the Store Director.
  • Possess full working knowledge of all department duties, including opening and closing procedures.
  • Schedule, supervise, train, and assign duties to department employees to ensure adequate coverage and service levels.
  • Train employees on store policies, sales techniques, and record‑keeping procedures.
  • Identify and develop high‑potential employees for advancement opportunities.
  • Monitor employee productivity and evaluate overall performance.
  • Initiate personnel actions such as interviews, transfers, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
  • Plan daily GM operations and monitor production processes in alignment with company procedures and profitability goals.
  • Build GM/HBC displays; rotate product and discard outdated or spoiled items.
  • Maintain department cleanliness, organization, and visual standards.
  • Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays.
  • Ensure all department standards and requirements are consistently met.
  • Maintain proper code‑dating procedures for all products.
  • Prepare sales and inventory reports; participate in physical inventory every six months.
  • Control inventory to ensure adequate quantity, quality, and freshness of product; stock and rotate product appropriately.
  • Order general merchandise according to division directives.
  • Maintain organized, in‑stock conditions in the back room and all Drug Department areas.
  • Oversee reclamation processing.
  • Control shrink and manage costs effectively.
  • Perform receiving duties including breaking down loads, verifying orders using invoices, inspecting product quality, reporting shortages, stocking, and rotating product.
  • Follow product temperature guidelines, storage standards, and proper packaging techniques.
  • Maintain accurate department records and process administrative paperwork.
  • Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and safety of work areas, coolers, equipment, and display zones.
  • Ensure compliance with retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, company policies, and code‑dating requirements.
  • Operate equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, scissors, knives, safety cutters, and electronic ordering devices.
  • Implement emergency procedures in the event of equipment or software malfunctions.
  • Ensure safety, cleanliness, and sanitation across all operational areas.
  • Comply with all workplace safety rules and regulations.
  • Maintain grooming and dress code standards.
  • Accurately complete, maintain, and monitor required daily logs, sales reports, inventory records, and labor documentation.
  • Attend and participate in sales meetings; communicate sales goals, department performance, and sales opportunities to the team.
  • Operate company computer software and electronic ordering systems to support department needs.
  • Perform all duties safely, accurately, and with honesty and integrity.
  • Carry out other necessary and required responsibilities as assigned.
