The Drug/GM Manager oversees all aspects of the Drug and General Merchandise departments, ensuring strong merchandising execution, in‑stock conditions, inventory accuracy, and exceptional customer service. This role leads department operations, drives sales and profitability, and maintains compliance with company programs and safety standards. Requirements

  • Prior retail, grocery, or general merchandise leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple categories and priorities.
  • Experience with planograms, merchandising execution, and inventory systems (preferred).
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities with a focus on team development.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead execution of all planograms, resets, promotional sets, and seasonal programs.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and visually appealing displays that align with company standards.
  • Ensure proper product rotation, shelf labeling, signing, and price accuracy.
  • Oversee seasonal transitions and promotional set‑ups to maximize sales opportunities.
  • Manage department ordering to maintain optimal inventory levels and reduce out‑of‑stocks.
  • Review movement reports, sales trends, and seasonal needs to adjust orders appropriately.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts, verify inventory accuracy, and investigate discrepancies.
  • Minimize shrink through proper handling, secure storage of high‑value items, and accurate inventory practices.
  • Maintain backroom and sales floor organization for all Drug/GM categories.
  • Ensure compliance with company programs, safety requirements, and operational procedures.
  • Oversee resets, new item cut‑ins, and promotional displays to meet deadlines.
  • Verify all ad items are stocked, tagged, and merchandised according to weekly ads.
  • Ensure all customers receive friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful service in Drug/GM departments.
  • Assist customers with locating products, understanding promotions, and product inquiries.
  • Support front‑end service standards when needed and collaborate with store leadership.
  • Provide daily direction and coaching to Drug/GM associates.
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and continuous training for department team members.
  • Manage schedules, workload planning, and delegation of tasks.
  • Foster a positive, professional, and collaborative department culture.
  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Oversee secure handling and stocking of regulated or high‑shrink merchandise.
  • Conduct safety checks, maintain clean work areas, and support company policy compliance.
