About The Position

The Vice President of Culinary is the strategic and operational leader responsible for shaping the company’s culinary vision, driving innovation, and ensuring exceptional food quality across all channels. This role owns the full lifecycle of food creation—from R&D and commercialization to execution in pop-up, ghost kitchen, and traditional kitchen environments. The VP of Culinary ensures every dish meets the company’s standards for taste, consistency, recipe performance, and guest satisfaction. This leader blends creativity with operational rigor, guiding culinary teams, scaling new concepts, and building systems that deliver outstanding flavor at speed and scale.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive culinary leadership experience, including executive-level oversight.
  • Proven success in multi-unit operations, ghost kitchens, or high-volume production environments.
  • Strong background in R&D, menu innovation, and commercialization.
  • Exceptional palate and ability to define, evaluate, and elevate flavor.
  • Experience leading large culinary teams and developing high-performance kitchen cultures.
  • Ability to balance creativity with operational discipline and financial acumen.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end culinary vision, ensuring alignment with brand strategy, customer expectations, and market trends.
  • Review operational readiness and manufacturing feasibility for new menu items, seasonal offerings, and concept development in conjunction with R&D for new menu items, seasonal offerings, and concept development.
  • Own the commercialization process—translating culinary innovation into scalable, operationally efficient recipes and processes.
  • Establish and maintain flavor standards, recipe scoring systems, and taste benchmarks across all product lines.
  • Build and manage operational frameworks for pop-up and ghost kitchen environments, ensuring speed, consistency, and profitability.
  • Develop launch playbooks, staffing models, and production workflows tailored to rapid-deployment kitchen formats.
  • Partner with operations and supply chain teams to ensure seamless execution, ingredient availability, and cost control
  • Lead, mentor, and develop kitchen teams, including cooks, leads, and culinary managers.
  • Implement training programs that elevate culinary skill, recipe accuracy, and food safety compliance.
  • Create a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and culinary excellence.
  • Ensure all kitchens—permanent or temporary—operate with efficiency, cleanliness, and adherence to brand standards.
  • Own the company’s flavor identity and ensure every menu item meets defined taste and quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain recipe documentation, SOPs, and quality control systems.
  • Monitor recipe performance through data, customer feedback, and internal scoring systems; drive continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular tastings, audits, and performance reviews across all kitchen environments.
  • Partner with Marketing on menu storytelling, product launches, and brand-aligned culinary experiences.
  • Work with Supply Chain to optimize sourcing, ingredient quality, and cost structure.
  • Collaborate with Operations to ensure recipes are executable at scale with consistency and efficiency.
  • Support Finance with forecasting, food cost management, and margin optimization.
  • Develop and manage the culinary budget, including labor, R&D, and ingredient costs.
  • Use data and insights to drive decision-making around menu mix, pricing, and operational improvements.
  • Represent the culinary function at the executive level, contributing to company-wide strategy and growth initiatives.
