Global Supply Manager (Logistics Strategy)

Base Power CompanyAustin, TX

About The Position

As the Global Supply Manager (GSM) for Logistics Strategy, you will serve as the architect of Base’s end-to-end logistics value chain. This is a high-impact role responsible for designing and scaling a world-class logistics network that supports our rapid production growth. You will not just manage shipments; you will own the end-to-end strategic roadmap for material flow, international trade positioning, and total landed cost optimization.

Requirements

  • 5 or more years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or strategic sourcing, specifically in a high-growth manufacturing or hardware environment where you owned programs rather than supported them.
  • Demonstrated experience running structured RFQ and sourcing events from start to finish, including building bid packages, leveling bids, negotiating commercial terms, and executing MSLAs with 3PL, freight, and logistics partners.
  • The commercial instinct to negotiate effectively, defend a position under pressure from internal stakeholders and suppliers alike, and recognize when a vendor's contractual terms create liability that outweighs cost savings.
  • Proven ability to run external meetings, manage supplier relationships, and represent Base Power in a way that builds trust with partners we want long-term relationships with. A GSM at Base goes to bat for awarded suppliers and holds them accountable in equal measure.
  • Experience evaluating and integrating logistics software and WMS platforms, including understanding API and EDI integration requirements and working cross-functionally with software and operations teams to qualify vendors for deployment.
  • Strong working knowledge of international trade, customs compliance, freight forwarding, and inbound supply chain operations for hardware products manufactured overseas.
  • The ability to operate at speed without sacrificing quality. You review your own work before you submit it, you escalate critical issues immediately, and you do not require repeated follow-up to close a task.
  • A first-principles approach to problem solving. You question the output, apply your own judgment, and do not treat any tool, system, or recommendation as a substitute for thinking.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end logistics strategy for Base Power across all modes: inbound ocean and air freight, domestic ground, last mile deployment, and 3PL warehouse operations in multiple markets.
  • Design and execute competitive RFQ processes for logistics services across freight, warehousing, and last mile. This includes building bid packages, running structured evaluations, negotiating MSLAs, and driving programs from supplier discovery through award and program kickoff without requiring close direction.
  • Lead the selection, onboarding, and ongoing performance management of logistics partners including freight forwarders, 3PL operators, last mile providers, and customs brokers. Own the commercial relationship, hold vendors to contractual SLAs, and serve as the buffer between internal stakeholders and suppliers in both directions.
  • Evaluate last mile software platforms and manage the engineering filter process that qualifies vendors before they enter an RFQ: NDA, software requirements, integration demo with the Deployments team, and debrief. Ensure Base's WMS and deployment workflows can integrate with any awarded provider.
  • Coordinate the development of transportation management system (TMS) and warehouse management system (WMS) with in-house software development teams
  • Manage the multi-vendor logistics strategy across all active markets. Structure pilot programs, track performance, and make data-driven recommendations on when to expand, consolidate, or replace providers. Do not rely on a single vendor for any critical lane or market.
  • Own the logistics budget, drive total landed cost optimization across all modes, and identify cost avoidance opportunities through negotiation, footprint right-sizing, and lane consolidation.
  • Define and manage Base's international trade and customs compliance framework, including HS classification, broker oversight, and the strategic use of trade agreements to minimize duty exposure. Own import data access and visibility tools.
  • Build and maintain the internal logistics playbook: SOPs, escalation protocols, supplier scorecards, and the process framework that allows the supply chain team to operate consistently as it scales.
