About The Position

The Global Supplier Quality Senior Manager serves as a strategic leader responsible for shaping and executing Pfizer’s global supplier quality strategy across a critical portfolio of external partners. This role provides end‑to‑end quality oversight and performance management to ensure suppliers consistently meet GMP expectations, product quality standards, and evolving business needs. By leveraging deep technical expertise and enterprise‑wide visibility, the Manager anticipates emerging risks, drives proactive mitigation, and strengthens supplier reliability to protect supply continuity and patient safety. Operating through the Supplier Quality Center of Excellence (CoE), the role partners closely with manufacturing sites, Procurement, Technical Operations, and RQA to identify high‑risk suppliers, align on enterprise‑level priorities, and implement robust qualification, development, and monitoring programs. The Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping cross‑functional decision making by providing data‑driven insights and strategic recommendations to the Centralized Supplier Review Board (SRB), ensuring alignment on supplier strategies, mitigation plans, and long‑range improvements. This position not only ensures current supplier performance but also advances long‑term supplier management capabilities—driving digital enablement, standardization, and continuous improvement to strengthen operational resilience across the global network.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Engineering, or related field.
  • 6+ years in pharmaceutical quality, technical support or procurement, with at least 5 years in supplier quality or external manufacturing oversight.
  • Demonstrated experience in GMP compliance, supplier audits, and end‑to-end supplier management.
  • Strong understanding of global regulatory requirements (FDA, EMA, ICH).
  • Proficiency with risk‑management tools and supplier quality systems.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to navigate and influence across a complex global network.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams and drive organizational change.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring & Escalations: Defines and tracks KPIs, analyzes supplier performance data, and uses insights to inform decisions. Escalates risks through established quality governance (NTM, QMR, QRR) and aligns mitigation actions with Quality Ops leadership.
  • Reporting & Governance: Shares performance trends and recommendations with the Supplier Review Board (SRB), ensuring alignment with CoE priorities. Converts SRB decisions into clear, actionable supplier plans.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Aligns the network on supplier risks, leads improvement initiatives, and serves as the primary quality contact for the assigned supplier portfolio. Partners with suppliers to execute development activities. Partners with Procurement, Technical, Site Quality, and RQA to align strategies via CoE and SRB. Supports new product introductions and tech transfers by ensuring supplier readiness. Represents Global Quality in Supplier Review Meetings with S2P and GTEL.
  • Global Supplier Oversight: Leads cross‑functional governance of key suppliers across material categories, regions, and products. Monitors performance against defined KPIs and escalates issues when needed. Manages supplier changes and quality incidents with impacted sites. Drives consistent escalation practices and network‑wide standardization.
  • Supplier Qualification & Development: Defines and implements global qualification strategies, including quality agreements and risk assessments. Develops improvement plans to close gaps and build supplier capability. Conducts requalification activities and manages changes to maintain compliance.
  • Risk Management: Identifies high‑risk suppliers using data and cross‑functional insights. Makes risk‑based quality decisions and establishes mitigation plans to reduce compliance and supply risks.
  • Compliance & Regulatory Readiness: Ensures suppliers maintain GMP and regulatory compliance across markets. Prepares for and supports regulatory inspections related to supplier oversight.
  • Continuous Improvement: Leads initiatives to enhance supplier performance and reliability. Applies best practices and digital tools to strengthen monitoring, reporting, and process simplification.
  • Innovation & Risk Taking: Adopts new tools and systems to advance the SQM Digital Roadmap and shift toward proactive, insight‑driven supplier management. Takes appropriate, risk‑based actions to support process modernization and centralization while maintaining compliance.
  • Strategic Capabilities: Demonstrates strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills. Builds effective cross‑functional relationships and fosters engagement. Champions risk‑based, innovative approaches that elevate supplier management practices.
