About The Position

The Global Health Supply Chain Program - Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) project is the primary vehicle through which the US government will 1) procure and provide health commodities, 2) provide system support to improve partner countries’ management of the supply chain, and 3) collaborate with key international stakeholders to support global health initiatives. The Global Standards (GS1) Implementation Advisor is a thought leader and subject matter expert for GS1 standards. The GS1 Implementation Advisor will set a strategic vision for the adoption of GS1 across the project’s supply chain operations and disseminate progress toward achieving this vision with GHSC-PSM staff and clients. The GS1 Advisor will oversee the adoption of GS1 into existing data architectures via electronic data interchange (EDI). The Advisor will lead discussions with strategic suppliers to prepare for their transition to GS1 standards use, including mapping document fields to electronic messages following GS1 best practices when needed. Importantly, the position will act as a bridge to GHSC-PSM project offices who are ready and willing to adopt GS1 standards. The position will be part of the GHSC-PSM headquarters Operational Excellence team and oversee the work of any staff supporting GS1 implementation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field required.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in working with GS1 standards in supply chains.
• Demonstrated analytical skills and a solid track record developing GS1-enabled data integration solutions and working with databases.
• Ability to present on GS1 to project staff and external partners with varying levels of technical knowledge regarding supply chain management and GS1.
• A results-oriented mindset with a strong delivery focus, including the ability to manage tight timelines.
• Strong knowledge of MS Office applications, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Demonstrated integrity, independent thinking, judgment, and respect for others.

• Previous GHSC-PSM experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the operationalization of GS1 within GHSC-PSM supply chain operations for order-to-cash visibility, including updating a draft a concept of operations and EDI master plan, collaborating with internal teams, suppliers, and third-party subcontractors to implement the plan, and preparing communications about progress for clients and internal teams.
• Drive discussions with relevant GHSC-PSM field offices on adopting GS1-enabled electronic messages to streamline local processes, such as inventory receipt at local warehouses, ensuring the necessary requirements for data receipt are clear and advising teams on how best to leverage GS1 data.
• Oversee the work of any staff supporting GS1 implementation, ensuring cohesion with the overall GS1 strategy and consistency in the implementation approach across teams at both headquarters and country level.
• Maximize the inclusion of supplier-maintained product master data from the Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN) in EDI wherever possible to improve operational processes.
• Support the measurement of efficiencies generated by the roll-out of EDI.
• Perform other duties as required.
