About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Public Policy Manager to join our Government Affairs and Public Policy team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping Cohere's global policy strategy, ensuring compliance with evolving AI regulations, and positioning Cohere as a thought leader in AI privacy, safety, security, standards, and governance. This role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams, regional team members, engaging with external stakeholders, and developing policy-focused content to support Cohere's growth and brand in the AI industry.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Public Policy, International Relations, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in public policy, government affairs, or a related role, preferably within the technology or AI sector.
  • Deep understanding of AI regulatory landscapes, including global AI safety frameworks (e.g., EU Code of Practice) and industry standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to draft compelling policy documents, thought leadership content, and customer communications.
  • Ability to identify/gather insights and communicate clear technology policy issues.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate complex policy issues into actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, both internally and externally.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Policy Development and Analysis: Monitor, analyse, and report on global AI regulatory developments, including safety, security, privacy, and AI standards. Provide strategic recommendations to ensure Cohere's products and operations remain compliant.
  • Thought Leadership: Develop and publish thought leadership content, including white papers, blog posts, and op-eds on key topics.
  • Customer and Stakeholder Communications: Create clear, concise customer-facing materials, such as FAQs, and policy summaries, to communicate Cohere's commitment to compliance and ethical AI practices.
  • External Engagement: Liaise with global safety and security institutes, industry associations, and regulatory bodies to represent Cohere's policy positions and contribute to industry standards development.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including Legal, Safety, Product, and Communications, to align policy initiatives with business objectives and ensure cohesive governance efforts.
