About The Position

We are seeking a strong, seasoned operator and a highly technical and process-oriented individual to lead global payroll for our rapidly growing workforce of 1,300 employees. Our global team includes both salaried and hourly colleagues across the U.S., Canada, Europe, India, China and Southeast Asia - with more expansion planned. This role will help to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing across regions and for every unique worker type. The ideal candidate is a “global generalist” who has successfully implemented and operated payroll programs in all parts of the world. This is a critical role that will work with a range of stakeholders across Finance, HR, Legal and more. The Global Payroll Manager will help to execute and improve current operations while building out a more strategic and systematic payroll solution, including identifying and implementing new partners and tooling.

Requirements

  • Experience: 10–15 years of dedicated payroll experience, with a strong background in global environments.
  • Hourly Expertise: Deep experience managing large-scale hourly/non-exempt workforces (Customer Service, Warehouse) and complex time-keeping requirements.
  • Equity/Stock-Based Compensation Experience: Experience with equity programs and the tax consequences associated with secondary sales or tender offers.
  • Regional Priority: Deep expertise in US Payroll complemented by experience in international markets (India, China, Europe, Latam).
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Workday, ADP, or Rippling. Ability to bring "large-company" rigor to a fast-paced, start-up environment.
  • Soft Skills: A collaborative, service-oriented mindset with the ability to act as a highly responsive partner to internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Global Payroll Execution: Design a global strategy and lead end-to-end payroll processing for employees across virtually every region of the world. Evaluate current processes and providers and recommend and implement improved solutions that help the company scale.
  • Hourly Workforce & Systems: Own and solve for the complexities of a large hourly/non-exempt population. Drive efficiency within core systems, ensuring data integrity for shift differentials and time-keeping.
  • Equity & Secondary Share Sales: Serve as the primary lead for the payroll and tax aspects of equity management (options, RSUs), including the processing of distributions associated with secondary share sales.
  • Process Rigor & Audit: Continuously monitor and audit payroll systems and processes. Identify and implement structural improvements to move from a current model of one-off manual fixes to more strategic, systematic and scalable solutions.
  • Compliance & Legislation: Keep up-to-date with global payroll and tax legislation changes, ensuring the company adapts its processes to stay compliant across all jurisdictions and with current EOR arrangements.
  • Issue Resolution: Address payroll discrepancies and concerns promptly, working closely with internal teams and external partners to resolve each issue.
  • Stakeholder Partnership & Training: Provide ongoing payroll training and support to internal stakeholders. Maintain a highly responsive partnership with HR, Legal, and Strategic Finance.
  • Reporting & Metrics: Prepare and present payroll reports to senior leadership, highlighting areas of risk, process improvements, and global compliance status.
