Responsibilities: The Counsel, Labor & Employment role is a mid-level position that works with Halliburton's business operations and support services function The Counsel, L&E is responsible for providing employment law advice and support to HR and Halliburton's business operations on Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the ADA, ADEA, WARN Act, FMLA, PDA, and a wide range of other employment laws The Counsel, L&E also advises and provides training on HR policies and business practices This position assists other lawyers in the L&E Dept. with HR investigations and works closely with the lawyers of the Code of Business Conduct of Halliburton's Ethics and Compliance Dept This position manages outside counsel and employment litigation claims through the mediation and arbitration process Employment litigation experience and a practical, solutions-oriented approach is required. Position also requires strong presentation skills and a team player mentality with the ability to interact effectively and cooperatively at all levels in the organization, including with business operation clients, lawyers (in-house and in private practice), staff and other professionals. Candidates having qualifications that exceed the minimum job requirements will receive consideration for higher-level roles give (1) their experience, (2) additional job requirements, and/or (3) business needs. Depending on education, experience, and skill level, a variety of job opportunities might be available from Counsel to Senior Counsel.

Requirements

  • J.D. from accredited law school
  • Employment litigation experience
  • State Bar Member in good standing
  • Minimum of 5+ years of employment law experience at a law firm or corporate legal department
  • Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Ability to analyze complex issues and advise internal business partners appropriately
  • Must adhere to a strict code of ethics
