About The Position

Amazon is looking for a talented and self-motivated Environmental Site Development Program Manager to support AWS globally. The successful candidate will join the AWS Environmental team, an expanding and dynamic team that is critical to enabling AWS's growth around the world, as well as ensuring regulatory compliance and highest-level environmental performance of AWS's data center global operations. The Environmental team has responsibility for managing Environmental requirements and risk from site selection through to decommissioning. This role requires a highly skilled professional to manage complex, ambiguous audit initiatives across organizational boundaries. The ideal candidate must lead site development program initiatives, influence stakeholders, and work independently while seeking guidance when needed. Strong strategic and tactical skills are essential, including balancing short and long-term needs, mitigating risks, and delivering simplified solutions. Excellent communication skills are crucial, with the ability to present to senior leadership and write strategic narratives. The role involves mentoring, recruitment, and process improvement. Requirements

• Experience developing and implementing environmental compliance programs including regulated waste, water, and air regulations in accordance with applicable laws
• 5+ years’ experience serving as an environmental professional with solid regional or global environmental management or program experience in site development (due diligence, design and permitting).

• Master's degree in science, engineering or a related field
• Experience in regional and/or global Environmental Management Systems, auditing, site development and compliance management in cloud-based infrastructure companies preferred.
• 10+ years in multinational company with focus on site development program development, deployment, implementation and verification.
• Excellent communication skills, strong relationship builder, solid influencing and negotiation skills, and the ability to coach at multiple levels.

Responsibilities

• Leadership and commitment. Ensure the Site Development program evolves to meet changing organizational needs, stakeholder expectations, and environmental challenges, and securing necessary resources and support for continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with wider environmental, design, and real estate teams to perform reviews and updates needed to ensure the site development program remains relevant and effective.
• Risk management and planning. Support the ongoing identification and assessment of environmental risks identified through the site development program across AWS pre-operational phases from site selection, through due diligence, design and permitting. Develop and implement strategic plans to address significant environmental risks and opportunities, setting ambitious yet achievable improvements.
• Implementation and operation. Oversee the design and deployment of our Site Development program to enhance environmental performance to ensure compliance with legal and other requirements. Lead associated environmental development training and awareness programs to embed skills throughout the organization.
• Performance evaluation. Establish and manage a robust system for monitoring, measuring, and reporting performance of the site development program. Conduct regular assessments of tools and processes being used by the environmental team, collate and analyze data from site development stages to identify trends, gaps, and areas for improvement. Present performance reports and recommendations to top management.
• Continual improvement. Drive the ongoing enhancement of the site development program leading management reviews, implementing corrective and preventative actions, and identifying innovative approaches to improve environmental performance.
