About The Position

Hayward Holdings Inc. (NYSE "HAYW") is the largest manufacturer of residential swimming pool equipment in the world, with a significant presence in the commercial pool market that is continuously growing. Hayward designs, manufactures, and markets a full line of residential and commercial pool and spa equipment including pumps, filters, heating, cleaners, salt chlorinators, automation, lighting, safety, flow control, and energy solutions at our company-owned facilities. Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, Hayward also has facilities in Tennessee, Arizona, and Rhode Island as well as Canada, Spain, France, Australia, and China. The Global Director of Engineering is a strategic leader responsible for shaping and executing the engineering vision for Hayward Holdings Inc., the world’s largest manufacturer of residential swimming pool equipment. Reporting to the Global VP of Engineering, this role drives innovation, operational excellence, and organizational capability for the electronics center of excellence located in North Kingstown, RI and for electronic products globally including Automation, Controls, Sanitization and Lighting. The Global Director is accountable for advancing the company’s technical agenda, ensuring alignment with global business objectives, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.

Requirements

  • Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in technical design and engineering leadership, including at least 6 years in management roles.
  • Demonstrated success in driving strategic initiatives, aligning departmental objectives with corporate goals, and delivering high-impact results.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to align technical initiatives with organizational goals.
  • Proven ability to lead multifunctional, global teams in a process-oriented environment. Strong communication and analytical skills.
  • Expertise in engineering processes, product development disciplines, and “design for X” methodologies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering required with a proven track record for product development

Responsibilities

  • Architect and Implement Engineering Strategy:Define and execute the long-term engineering roadmap, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and market trends. Champion the adoption of advanced technologies and methodologies to maintain Hayward’s leadership in product innovation and quality.
  • Drive Cross-Functional Collaboration:Establish and nurture strategic partnerships across engineering centers and global business units. Facilitate knowledge sharing, process harmonization, and best practice adoption to optimize product development and operational efficiency.
  • Governance and Process Excellence:Oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of engineering processes, including gated development systems, reliability engineering, and compliance frameworks. Ensure rigorous adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Organizational Capability and Talent Development:Strategically manage and develop engineering talent, fostering a high-performance culture and succession pipeline. Mentor emerging leaders and technical experts, promoting professional growth and organizational resilience.
  • Innovation and Product Leadership:Direct the conceptualization and execution of complex product and platform initiatives, leveraging data-driven insights and market intelligence. Guide teams in developing robust product architectures and project plans that deliver superior customer value.
  • Financial Stewardship:Optimize the financial impact of engineering activities by driving cost-effective solutions, resource allocation, and value creation. Collaborate with executive leadership to align departmental budgets and investments with strategic priorities.
  • Risk Management and Problem Solving:Lead root cause analysis and risk mitigation efforts for product and process challenges. Champion a culture of accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement.
  • Global Perspective:Ensure compliance with regional regulations and standards. Adapt strategies to meet diverse market and customer needs.
  • Technical Oversight:Ensure robust architecture, scalability, and security in all engineering solutions. Oversee adoption of best practices in product development and infrastructure.
