What is The Role We are seeking a strategic and customer-obsessed Director of Global Events to craft and lead ground-breaking corporate programs that elevate our global event strategy! This leader will craft our end-to-end ElasticOn event strategy globally --- through signature events in region that are both customer and partner facing. You will be responsible for building and ensuring a premier audience experience at ElasticON, the company's regional solution user series throughout the year. You will have experience running user conferences and international roadshows as well as hybrid/digital conferences. This role requires a combination of critical thinking, strong planning and execution skills to optimally plan and develop strategic activities to deliver marketing contributions to the sales and partner pipeline. The successful candidate will partner across Marketing, Product, Sales, and Customer Success to ensure a consistent, personalized customer experience at every stage of the journey.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in corporate event management/marketing, with people management experience
  • Experience with data-driven strategy development to include large scale, global events, preferably at a high-growth technology company.
  • Experience working with or supporting programs that support sales and drive pipeline growth
  • Urgency and strong work ethic is a requirement
  • Positive and consistent customer service orientation
  • Excellent knowledge of and hands-on experience with all aspects of event management, logistics, vendor negotiation, and demand generation.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while multi-tasking, re-prioritizing projects and communicating priority updates to partners.
  • Experience managing and forecasting budgets for large multi faceted event programs
  • Exceptional client and vendor management skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 40%

Responsibilities

  • Own the vision and strategy for the Elastic corporate events team. Develop an annual strategic ElasticOn event plan grounded on business needs, market trends, client preferences, and established marketing programs; designed to differentiate us from competitors, build attention and develop and champion relationships with key account segments and ecosystem partners.
  • Deeply understand the markets and latest trends from an event experience perspective. Know the key events that our target segments are attending and stay abreast of what competitors are doing. Use these insights to creatively design and optimize the event program globally.
  • Lead, run and mentor a hard-working team of event marketers to ensure goals and audience expectations are always exceeded and the Elastic brand is well represented.
  • Drive economies of scale across the Events team and resources that translate across multiple events.
  • Partner closely with other event leaders and business leaders to ensure cross-functional alignment on event goals and target outcomes. Optimally collaborate with Field Marketers, Sales Teams and Subject Matter Authorities for event messaging, content, curriculum, sessions, speakers, etc. to ensure a compelling story is presented and that it engages our key target audience.
  • Own the end-to-end event execution in the market including registrations, vendor relationships, SME/speaker presentations, internal/external event communications, venue and/or digital world, sponsorship, show-floor expo, budget and procurement, compliance and follow-up plan to ensure that the event strategy and plan is executed with the highest of standards, within event brand guidelines and that it leads to critical metric attainment.
  • Maintain a network of partners to assist with venue sourcing, production, branding and onsite logistics.
  • Supervise return on investment, campaign tie-in and engagement and audience feedback to measure results, assess opportunities for improvement and optimize future events.
  • Guide the development of all communications surrounding the event - from pre-event comms to registration to post-show follow-ups.
