About The Position

A summer intern joining the GCSA team within the Company’s Legal Department will have the opportunity to participate in Corporate Governance related matters for State Street. The role will provide support across a broad spectrum of areas including corporate governance, securities law, corporate secretarial and administration services, legal entity management and shareholder communications. The summer intern will have exposure to the Company’s annual proxy statement filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, supporting the Company’s Board of Directors by assisting in the organization and preparation of meeting materials, evaluating shareholder engagement practices, conducting regulatory analyses and gaining an understanding of legal entity management. The role will also be project focused conducting research, analyzing best practices in this space and helping to develop the team’s technology opportunities. Global Corporate Secretarial and Administration Team The Global Corporate Secretarial and Administration Services team within the Legal Division of State Street is responsible for managing and executing the responsibilities of the Corporate Secretary’s office as well as promoting overall Board effectiveness and governance. Responsibilities include the planning and executing of all Corporate Board and Committee meetings, shaping how the content of materials is presented and used, as well as maintaining all required governance documents and records to ensure best practices in both governance and administration. These accountabilities extend across State Street’s subsidiary entities and as applicable to other governance structures and related functions globally. The team is responsible for managing shareholder relationships and related disclosures and communications.

Requirements

  • No specific undergraduate major or discipline required for consideration, but should possess strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task assignments
  • Strong communication skills – both verbal and written
  • The ability to work independently and cooperatively; good project management skills, with ability to take the initiative and drive a project to completion
